Another Sneak Preview - Pat Hayden Ryan

This painting of the Don Luis Bridge is one of the paintings exhibited in this show. Oporto is a place that was very familar to my father's generation of fishermen.  Newfoundland merchants would take barrels of dried fish from places such as Burin, Placentia Bay overseas to Portugal in their three masted schooners to be traded for goods such as salt.  The scene depicted in this painting would be one remembered by many Newfoundlanders: the Don Lois Bridge majestically spans the Duro River with the the ancient city of Oporto as a backdrop.
